Will LeBron James and the US basketball team "revenge" at the 2024 Olympics?
SportsCenter on Instagram posted an image of potential players for the US basketball team at the 2024 Olympics, including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Devin Booker, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard and Kawhi Leonard.
LeBron responded to the post with a 👀 emoji, which signaled that he may be considering a possible return to the Olympics arena.
James won a bronze medal with Team USA at the 2004 Olympics, before reaching the top position at Beijing 2008 as well as London 2012. For the past 11 years, LeBron has not played for the national team.
The Olympic roster post was created after the US team lost 111-113 to Germany in the FIBA World Cup 2023 semi-finals.
At least that achievement is better than the 2019 tournament, where Gregg Popovich and his team only finished 7th, the worst in history. However, two years later they won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics with a squad consisting of Durant, Tatum, Lillard and Booker.
LeBron James is no stranger to "revenge". He was part of the 2008 Redeem Team with Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard or Carmelo Anthony to regain glory for the US national team, after consecutive failures at the 2004 Olympics and the 2006 World Championship.
Paris 2024 will be an opportunity for James to win his fourth gold medal at the Olympics, possibly the last, because he will be 43 years old when the 2028 Olympics arrive in Los Angeles.
