Viettel club bid farewell to three players

Published:2022-11-16 By Nam Anh(MetaSports) Comments
Goalkeeper Tran Nguyen Manh, midfielder Ho Khac Ngoc and striker Pedro Paulo will all not play for Viettel next season.

Nguyen Manh, Khac Ngoc are still at the team's headquarters and will play at Hang Day Stadium when Viettel meets Da Nang in the final round of V-League 2022 on November 19. However, these two Nghe An players will not play, but only appear to say goodbye to the fans. Before that, they also did not play when Viettel drew 0-0 on the field of Ho Chi Minh City in the penultimate round, because the contract expired three days ago.

According to Viettel, the contract of Nguyen Manh and Khac Ngoc is signed annually, in November, so it expires while the team is still playing. Viettel wanted to continue signing with these two pillars, but the negotiations failed because the club could not spend too much to break the ceiling of bribes and salaries in the team.

Viettel will also bid farewell to Pedro Paulo. The Brazilian striker's contract is valid until December, but has not been extended. The club assessed that Pedro Paulo did not adapt to the team's style of play and often suffered injuries. In the V-League 2022, this foreigner has only scored two goals.

Many clubs have contacted to invite Nguyen Manh, but the Vietnamese goalkeeper has not yet received an agreement to sign with any team. He said: "At the moment, I want to spend time with my family, to make up for the time I go to play away from home."

Nguyen Manh was born in 1991, grew up from the SLNA training academy. He joined the first team in 2012 and won the 2017 National Cup with the team. In 2020, Nguyen Manh left SLNA to join Viettel and win the V-League championship in the first season.

Khac Ngoc also parted ways with SLNA to join Viettel at the same time as Nguyen Manh. The duo are very close and agreed to choose the same destination after leaving Viettel.

Viettel promises to reform its forces after the unsuccessful 2022 season. The team only earned 36 points through 23 matches, ranked fourth, becoming the former king of the V-League.
