Vietnam reached the semi-finals with the first place in group AFF Cup Women's Cup 2022
After defeating Cambodia, Laos and East Timor, Vietnam won the semi-final tickets from the July 11 match. In the last match against Myanmar, coach Maidezhong's teachers and students only needed a draw to keep the first place in the group. However, the reigning champions did more with a 4-0 win.
This result helped Vietnam reach 12 absolute points through four matches, scoring 18 goals and not conceding a single goal. In the semifinals, Vietnam meets the host Philippines - the second-placed team in Group A, while Myanmar faces Thailand.
Myanmar is considered to be the main opponent of Vietnam in Group B. Before this confrontation, they won three matches and only ranked second because they lost the goal difference (+11 compared to +14). However, not so that they are appreciated compared to Vietnam. In the last five confrontations between the two teams, Myanmar won one, drew one and lost three.
The reality on the field proves the level difference between the two teams. In the 16th minute, Vietnam opened the record. Nguyen Thi My Anh crosses from the left and the Burmese keeper miscatches the ball for Tuyet Dung to score. After about 20 minutes, the gap doubled. Tuyet Dung is fouled in the box and the Henan midfielder himself successfully completes 11m. The Burmese goalkeeper guessed the right direction, but couldn't stop Tuyet Dung's low shot.
Before the first half ended, Vietnam took a 3-0 lead. From the free kick on the home side, center-back Zhang Thi Kieu passed long to Huynh Nhu. The Captain of Vietnam controlled neatly and beat the Myanmar goalkeeper in the face.
With safety gap, Vietnam plays the top in the second half. In the 47th minute, Huynh Nhu had a chance to make a double, but hit the Myanmar goalkeeper. The next delicious opportunity belongs to Truc Huong, but twice inaccurate.
At the same time as Burma showed signs of surrender, Vietnamese players were almost waiting for the whistle to end. However, coach Maidezhong's army scored another goal in the 89th minute, thanks to striker Haiyan.
