After runner Nguyen Thi That, gunner Trinh Thu Vinh became the second Vietnamese athlete to have a ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Trinh Thu Vinh won tickets thanks to her achievements at the World Championships (ISSFWC) 2023 held in Baku, Azerbaijan. This gunner participated in the women's 10m air pistol event on the opening day today, August 17.

In the qualifying round, Thu Vinh reached 579 points to rank fifth, thereby entering the group of eight finalists. The final competition began to gradually eliminate athletes from the fourth shot, and Thu Vinh lasted until the sixth series with 175.6 points.

Chinese AD carry Jiang Ranxin won the gold medal with 239.8 points after eight rounds. Next are Greek athlete Korakaki Anna - 238.3 points, Chinese athlete Li Xue - 218.9 points, and Hungarian athlete Fabian Sara Rahel - 198.9 points.

According to the rules of ISSWC 2023, the top four athletes will win tickets to the Paris Olympics 2023. However, China only Jiang Ranxin won tickets because each country has a maximum of two places. Last year, Lu Kaiman won tickets also at ISSFWC. Korakaki Anna was also unable to attend the Olympics because two Greek athletes had previously won tickets. Thus, Thu Vinh and Korean athlete Kim Bo-mi were promoted to third and fourth in the Olympic list through their achievements at ISSFWC 2023.

This is the second ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games of the Vietnamese sports delegation. Before that, Nguyen Thi That with the gold medal in the women's road race at the 2023 Asian Championship was the first athlete to have a ticket.

Trinh Thu Vinh was born in 2000, belongs to the People's Public Security Union. At the 31st SEA Games, she won a bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol and was invested heavily towards ASIAD 19.

Currently, the Vietnamese shooting team is led by head coach Hoang Xuan Vinh - the legend who won the gold medal in the men's 10m air pistol and the silver medal in the men's 50m air pistol at the 2016 Rio Olympics, along with Korean expert Park. Chung-gun.
