Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam lost 1-4 to Hungary in a friendly match on the afternoon of September 17, after drawing 1-1 two days ago.

* Goals: Minh Tri 39’ – Vas Adam 13’, Pal Patrik 21’, Nagy Kevin 23’, Rabl Janos 35’

Hungary ranks 29th on the world futsal rankings, 10 places higher than Vietnam. The European team has good technique and better physical shape. Captain Droth Zoltan, 1.9 m tall, is 35 years old but constantly causes difficulties for the home defense.

Vietnam had many opportunities in the first half, but the shots were not difficult enough for goalkeeper Alasztics Marcell. By the 13th minute, Vietnam lost the ball after a counterattack, then lost position, allowing Vas Adam to dribble freely and score against goalkeeper Huu Phuc.

Just 11 seconds into the second half, Vietnam conceded the second goal to Pal Patrik's classy free kick. Three minutes later, goalkeeper Marcell threw the ball from his home field for Droth Zoltan to skillfully control and overcome Pham Duc Hoa's marking near the goal line. Hungary's Pivo passed smoothly for Nagy Kevin to powerfully score the third goal.

Having lost heavily, coach Diego Giustozzi let his players play power-play - the strategy of kicking five players, without a goalkeeper. After many efforts, Vietnam also had a shortened goal in the 39th minute when Duong Ngoc Linh passed from the bottom left edge for Nguyen Minh Tri to score. However, the risky strategy caused Vietnam to concede the fourth goal when Rabl Janos quickly scored from home into an empty net in the 35th minute.

Losing the final 1-4, Vietnam went through a series of seven matches without a win, all of which were friendly matches. Before the two matches against Hungary, during the June training camp in South America, the team lost to Paraguay 2-3, 0-2 and drew 4-4, lost to Argentina 1-4 and 0-3.

On September 19, Vietnam continued to play friendly with strong opponent Russia - ranked fourth in the world. In the last meeting, Vietnam lost 2-3 in the 1/8 round of FIFA futsal World Cup 2021.
