Vietnam affirms Asia's leading golf tourism industry

Vietnam proved its number one position in the regional golf tourism industry when it was named five times at the World Golf Awards (WGA) 2022 in Abu Dhabi on November 15.

At this year's WGA, the Vietnamese delegation won three international categories including "Asia's Best Golf Tourism Destination", "Specialist Association or World" for the Vietnam Golf Tourism Association (VGTA) and "par3 course". best in the world" for Els Performance Academy, Hung Yen.

In addition, there are three "best in Vietnam" categories for Golfasian travel agency, Ba Na Hills Golf Club and The Grand hotel of the Ho Tram Strip resort entertainment complex, Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

At the last WGA, Vietnam competed with six candidates – China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Korea and Thailand. The organizers do not list candidates to race against VGTA.

The WGA tournament set was born in 2014 with a total of 21 categories, initiated and owned by World Media & Events, to honor typical individuals and organizations in the international golf tourism industry. From 2017 to now, Vietnam has continuously held the title of "Asia's Best Destination", in particular, 2021 topped this category at the world level. And Ba Na Hills won "Asia's best stadium" from 2017 to 2021. This place is located in Da Nang, designed by former world number one Luke Donald.

WGA accepts all eligible applicants and does not charge a fee to apply, who can apply online at their website. The awarding, including cups and medals, is based on the results of public and professional votes. The last WGA 2022 vote took place from February 26 to October 1.

If the winning party wants to promote the achievement, the Organizing Committee also accepts to produce an additional reward at the price of 650 pounds (about 19 million VND) for each item. Delivery will take about two weeks for the 2.4 kg cup, and six weeks for the medal measuring 25.4cm x 26.7cm, from the time the seller receives the payment.

In addition to WGA, World Media & Events also organizes 8 sets of specialized awards, including the World Travel Awards. Prizes for the tourism industry only charge entry fees when candidates are shortlisted, at £399 (11.7 million VND) for the national or sub-regional level and 499 pounds (14.7 million VND) ) for the regional level.
