Van Quyet won the Vietnam Golden Ball 2022
When the award was announced, Van Quyet showed no expression. When Nguyen Tien Linh (Silver Ball) and Nguyen Hoang Duc (Bong Dong) congratulated their seniors with this award, Van Quyet smiled. The captain of Hanoi FC became the fifth male player in history to receive the Golden Ball at least twice, after Le Huynh Duc, Nguyen Hong Son, Le Cong Vinh and Pham Thanh Luong.
Just like when he won the first prize in 2020, Van Quyet thanked Viettel Football Center and Hanoi Club. The 1.72-meter-tall striker grew up at The Cong training camp and played for Viettel until 2010, before moving to Hanoi. And just like last time, he also let his son Van Quan receive the award with him and hugged the Golden Ball. "For me, success is not a destination, but a process," he added. "In the journey there are happy times, sad times, but we will all go home. I want to thank my wife, children and family for always sharing and accompanying me."
In 2022, Van Quyet won the V-League Best Player award, with six goals in 18 matches, helping Hanoi win the championship. He also won the National Cup top scorer with five other players, when he scored three goals to help Hanoi crown. The influence of the Hanoi striker in the team is not as strong, when he scored one goal in five matches.
Van Quyet has twice received the Best Young Player award in 2010 and 2011, and twice won the Silver Ball in 2014 and 2015. In 2020, he won the Golden Ball for the first time with the V-League Best Player award.
With high performance in the team and Lank Vilaverdense club in Portugal, striker Huynh Nhu also won the Golden Ball. The Silver Ball belongs to midfielder Tran Thi Thuy Trang, and the Bronze Ball belongs to Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy.
Goalkeeper Ho Van Y was awarded the Golden Ball for the second time in a row, with important saves that brought Vietnam into the quarterfinals of Asian futsal. In all eight times the award was awarded, the Golden Ball belonged to a player from Thai Son Nam Club. The Silver Ball belonged to Khong Dinh Hung and the Bronze Ball was given to Chau Doan Phat.
The award for the best young male player belongs to midfielder Khuat Van Khang, captain of Vietnam U20. In 2022, he scored six goals in 13 matches for U19 and U20 Vietnam. At the 2022 AFC U23 Championship, Van Khang was chosen as the best player in the 2-2 draw with Korea in the group stage. The Viettel midfielder also made his debut for the team of the year, and scored in his debut against Singapore on September 21.
Striker Vu Thi Hoa won the best young female player award, when she was the top scorer of the 2022 National Championship with nine goals. Hoa and Khang are both 20 years old and promise to be the mainstay of the team in the future.
Rimario Gordon won the best foreign player award, with 17 goals in the V-League for Hai Phong, seven goals ahead of second place. This is the first time a Jamaican player has been honored.
Vietnam Golden Ball awarded annually, the first time in 1995 to striker Le Huynh Duc. Since 2000, the organizers have added the best young and foreign players categories. A year later, the female Golden Ball was given to striker Luu Ngoc Mai for the first time. In 2015, the award expanded to futsal, when the Golden Ball was awarded to Tran Van Vu.
