V-League 2023 has its own rules for Hang Day stadium

This morning, December 26, the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) held a drawing ceremony to schedule the V-League, the First Division and the 2023 National Cup.

V-League 2023 with 14 teams divided into two phases, in which stage one consists of 14 teams kicking in a circle one turn to calculate ranking points, then separating the group in stage two. The top 8 teams will compete for the championship (group A), the rest will avoid a relegation place (group B). The tournament will take place from February 4 to August 27, 2023.

With Hang Day Stadium, the organizers stipulate that each round has a maximum of two teams playing at home. Matches between the three teams in phase one ensure that each team plays one home and one away game. In the last round of phase one, the matches were played at the same time, and only one team was allowed to play at Hang Day's home ground.

With the final round of the second stage, if there are two teams in group A or B, the team that stands higher in stage one will have priority to play on Hang Day stadium, the other team must play on another field.

Vietnamese football club level 2023 season will open with the national Super Cup match between Hanoi FC and Hai Phong at Hang Day Stadium on January 29. The First Division with 12 teams starts from February 11 to August 12, with the same format as the V-League. National Cup with 26 teams kicking from March 8 to August 30 according to the format of the draw for pairing - knockout.

The return of the V-League 2023 to the grouping format after the first phase like 2020 is in response to the change of the schedule over two years, starting with the 2023/2024 season. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) proposed changes to synchronize with other championships in the world, convenient for player transfers or when the national team gathers. In addition, the V-League 2023 allows teams to register for one player of Vietnamese origin but not yet Vietnamese nationality, in addition to three foreign soldiers.
