Tuchel coach is afraid that Cristiano Ronaldo will affect Chelsea's performance

Owner Todd Boly wants to recruit Ronaldo but manager Thomas Tuchel opposes it amid fears the Portuguese superstar will have a negative impact on Chelsea's collective play.

According to Sportmail, Boehly, the Us billionaire who led the group of businessmen who took over Chelsea in a $5.2 billion deal in May, suggested the possibility of bringing Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge after a face-to-face meeting with his agent Jorge Mendes in Portugal.

The same thing happened at Juventus. Italian clubs scored 86 goals and won Serie A in 2017-2018. But, in the three seasons since they recruited Ronaldo, that figure has dropped to 70, 76 and 77 respectively.

Tuchel also seems concerned that the emergence of Ronaldo will overshadow Raheem Sterling-and the striker is expected to usher in a new era after Roman Abramovich. "Sterling will be an important factor for Chelsea," Tuchel once said of the $57 million contract signed from Manchester City. "Hopefully Sterling can shape Chelsea in his own style. Sterling has had a great influence in English football over the years, and now is the perfect age to take responsibility in front of young players and become a player. Be a role model".

Chelsea have completed the recruitment of midfielder Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli for $41 million and are continuing talks with Manchester City over the interests of Nathan Ake and Prestnell Kimpembert, who worked with Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain.

Ronaldo is said to have boosted his desire to leave Manchester United this summer for a move to a club involved in the UEFA Champions League. He also did not play in preseason games in Thailand and Australia for "family reasons". However, there are not many options for Cristiano Ronaldo to join next season.

As well as Chelsea, PSG are said to have refused to recruit Ronaldo. Chairman al-Khelaifi said PSG did not have enough budget to pay the Portuguese superstar's salary and said the club had enough men in attack, including a trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. Bayern are also believed to be another potential destination for Ronaldo, but general manager Oliver Kahn has denied the rumor. "I think Ronaldo is one of the greatest players in history, but this deal is not in line with Bayern's philosophy," he told Kicker.
