Truong Dinh Hoang successfully defended the WBA Asian belt
Before the eight-year-old boxer, Dinh Hoang fought confidently and overwhelmingly. During 12 rounds, the host boxer actively used lightning speed with powerful hook punches in the face. Dinh Hoang shows wisdom in how to deploy tactics and adjust the pace of the game to counter the opponent. From the seventh round to the end, he gradually dominated with precise punch combinations. The male king of Vietnamese boxing showed outstanding experience when distributing physical strength and choosing the right time to strike, making Baek many times stunned.
On the contrary, in the first time going abroad to compete, the promising Korean boxer Dae Hyun Baek, despite having a lot of stubbornness in taking hits, lacked observation when defending, so he got hit in a row. The boxer born in 1998 only really got up in the last round when there was nothing left to do, in the hope of knocking out his opponent, but the remaining time was not enough for him to create a mutation and had to accept defeat.
"In front of the young and energetic boxer, the coaching staff and I studied very carefully to have a reasonable distribution of power to reduce the excitement of the opponent. The home audience also gave me strength to get the victory. this," Dinh Hoang said after defending the title.
In another match, boxer Nguyen Ngoc Hai entered the WBA South Asian super-lightweight championship match (from 73.7 kg to 74.8 kg) with Thai boxer Campee Phayom. In the first round, the two boxers cautiously chose a balanced attack style, launching consecutive attacks but did not achieve good results.
The turning point occurred in the first minute of the second half, in a moment Phayom lost focus, Ngoc Hai immediately took the opportunity to continuously approach the attack, causing the opponent to fall to the floor twice. Campee Phayom tried to compete, but then the referee stopped and scored the technical knock-out victory for the representative of Vietnam.
Ngoc Hai thus got the first title in her professional career. "Thank you to everyone who came to cheer for me to have this victory. I am very proud of trying my best to bring back the WBA South Asian championship belt to Vietnam," said the boxer born in 1993.
Of the three host boxers in the ring yesterday, only Le Huu Toan lost in the defense of the Asian minimumweight championship (under 48kg) against Garen Diagan - a 26-year-old boxer who won the Philippine professional boxing championship in 2019.
Entering the match, Huu Toan - currently ranked 8th on the WBA rankings - kept his center of gravity low, worked hard to close and then launched hooks towards his opponent. But Diagan also showed his class when he constantly had powerful counterattacks that caused the face of the host fighter to appear red streaks.
In the second half, Le Huu Toan correctly hooked many shots and at times made Diagan stunned. But the punches that followed were not heavy enough to knock the opponent down.
In the following rounds, the home boxer kept the initiative to attack, created corner pressure and continued to promote his forte in the combination of horizontal hooks (hook), reverse hook (uppercut). Diagan chose defensive counter-attack tactics and maintained quality counter-attacks. At times, Huu Toan could finish the match, but Diagan all escaped with a reasonable move on a good physical foundation.
In the end after 12 rounds, Diagan defeated Huu Toan with only 1 point difference from the referees and won the WBA Asian minimumweight belt.
