Tottenham can bring Pochettino back
Tottenham experienced another empty season after being eliminated from the FA Cup and Champions League. This makes them almost certain to part with Conte in June, when their contracts expire.
According to the Guardian, Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel are potential candidates to replace Conte. The change is expected to take place only in the summer, but if the situation worsens, the Tottenham leadership can change the coach soon because the club still needs to race into the top 4 of the Premier League, to get tickets to the Champions League next season.
Conte spent an unforgettable season with Tottenham. He struggled with health problems. Gallbladder surgery has left the 53-year-old leader absent since early February and only returned in the second leg of the 1/8 Champions League round, when Tottenham drew 0-0 at home and were eliminated. In that match, Conte was booed by the home fans when he replaced Dejan Kulusevski with Davinson Sanchez at the end of the game even though Tottenham needed to score. Recently, striker Richarlison publicly criticized Conte for making him a substitute in the match against Milan.
Before that, the London team lost to Sheffield United 0-1 in the fifth round of the FA Cup and then continued to be defeated by Wolves in the English Premier League with this same score. Tottenham will take on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this weekend and another unsatisfactory result could cost Conte with his chair.
Pochettino was appointed by Tottenham in 2014 and has been with the North London club for more than five seasons. He helped Tottenham achieve unexpected results when they finished third, second, third and fourth respectively from the second to fifth seasons, along with reaching the 2019 Champions League final and losing to Liverpool. Pochettino was sacked by PSG in July last year and remains unemployed. He once said he was ready to return to Tottenham.
Similarly, Tuchel also has no club after leaving Chelsea last September. The German military leader once admitted to supporting Tottenham since he was a child and prefers to work in the Premier League over other leagues.
