Tottenham agree to sell Kane to Bayern
According to British media, today, August 10, Tottenham agreed to an offer of 110 million USD from Bayern. The transfer will be completed if Kane agrees to move to the German team. A few days ago, the 30-year-old striker wanted his future to be decided before Tottenham kicked off the first round of the Premier League this weekend with Brentford.
Bayern sent an offer of $ 110 million on August 4 and gave Tottenham a day to decide. The English team did not respond on time, but then announced that it was not accepted. They had previously turned down a first offer of $77 million in June, then $90 million in July.
On the evening of August 7, the Bayern leadership met to decide whether to continue pursuing Kane or not. According to Sky Sports, Bayern still wants to have England striker after the agreement. They still lack a quality striker, after parting with Robert Lewandowski in the summer of 2022.
The German representative is said to be considering submitting a new offer worth 120 million USD with additional fees. The pressure to sell Kane this summer also made Tottenham make an early decision. Kane only has a contract until June 2024, and Spurs could lose the striker if they keep him until next year.
Kane used to be inclined to stay, but the latest fee agreement between the two clubs is likely to make the 30-year-old striker change his mind.
Currently, Kane is still actively training and playing under the new coach Ange Postecoglou. On August 6, he played in a friendly match, beating Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 and scoring four goals. But Kane did not go to Catalonia to play the last friendly match of Tottenham this summer - the reverse defeat to Barca 2-4 on August 8.
Kane is Tottenham's all-time top scorer, with 280 goals in 435 games. If counting the Premier League alone, Kane has scored 213 goals in 320 matches. He needed 48 more goals to break the record for most goalscorers in tournament history held by Alan Shearer. Kane also holds the scoring record for England with 58 goals.
Last season, Kane scored 30 goals in the Premier League as Tottenham finished the season in eighth place and failed to qualify for the European Cup. The North London team has not won a trophy since 2008. This is one of the reasons why Kane wants to leave. Kane has never won a title with the team. His best achievement is reaching the final of the 2015 and 2021 League Cup, the 2019 Champions League final with Tottenham and the Euro 2021 final with England.
