Beating Thai opponent Pornpicha Choeikeewong 2-0 to enter the semi-finals of the Vietnam Open 2023 women's singles, but tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh admitted that she still made many mistakes.

On the afternoon of September 15, Nguyen Thuy Linh competed in the quarterfinals with Pornpicha at the Vietnam Open International Badminton tournament taking place in Ho Chi Minh City. After easily winning the first set 21-11, Vietnam's number one tennis player let his opponent create a big gap, sometimes up to six points, in the second set. But then promptly recovered to overcome 21-19 to enter the semi-finals.

After the match, Thuy Linh revealed that she was more excited and also more hungry to win in the quarterfinals, because she did not have to meet fellow players like in the first two rounds. But after easily winning the first set, the Vietnamese player admitted she made too many mistakes in the second set.

"I also found it difficult to understand when I didn't have the best feeling for the ball. So after that, I told myself to play slowly to find a solution, to be patient to squeeze out every point and luckily I won the match." , Thuy Linh told more about how she overcame difficult times before Pornpicha.

Thuy Linh just stopped at the China Open on September 7, then returned home and only had two days to prepare before entering the Vietnam Open on the 13th. Because of the rush and constant competition density, the number one female tennis player in Vietnam admit not enough time to practice and correct errors.

"Recently, I participated in three tournaments and had to compete and travel constantly. Everything changed from the weather, the food, and the playing space. Therefore, I almost didn't practice, but just went on the field and played. . Therefore, I no longer feel the desire to compete anymore," said the tennis player currently ranked 27th in the world.

After overcoming Pornpicha, Thuy Linh will play in the semi-finals with Manami Suizu - a Japanese opponent standing 53 places lower - at 2:22 p.m. today, September 16.

"I will try to improve gradually. I don't care who the opponent is, strong or weak, but just try to maintain my spirit and go out on the field to show my best ability. With the cheers of the home crowd , hopefully I will continue to win," said the Phu Tho tennis player.
