The steering wheel causes a domino-style accident
In the 273.4 km race on April 2, Maciejuk accelerated on the left side of the road. After plunging into a flooded lawn, the Polish driver lost control and plunged into the middle of the track. A collision between Maciejuk and some other cyclists resulted in a chain accident, causing dozens of riders behind to fall. Driver Tim Wellens had to retire due to injury.

Maciejuk did not fall, but was disqualified from the race due to risky behavior causing an accident. "I'm really sorry for my mistake," Maciejuk took to social media to apologize while the other riders continued. "I hope everyone involved is in good health and safe. This is a huge mistake in my judgment and should not have happened."
"It sucks," commentator Adam Blythe told Eurosport. "You can see Maciejuk realize he's running out of space, basically go into a swamp, and then decide to get back on track. That shouldn't have happened."

Tour of Flanders is an annual race held in Belgium in the spring, starting in 1913. Top 3 prizes this year belong to Tadej Pogacar, Mathieu van der Poel and Mads Pedersen respectively. Pogacar has won the Tour de France twice in 2020 and 2021. The Slovenian driver became the third driver to win both the Tour de France and the Tour of Flanders.
