The penultimate prize of the PGA Tour this season takes place from August 17 to 20 at Olympia Fields Country Club, which was once the largest golf complex in the world.

Olympia Fields is located on the outskirts of Chicago, established in 1915. This place, after eight years of development, has four courts, all 18 holes. With the fourth course - North Course opened in 1923, Olympia Fields became the largest golf complex in the world, when located on more than 404 hectares of land.

All four courtyards surround the clubhouse with a tetrahedral clock tower, later the defining feature of Olympia Fields. For many years, its clubhouse, with its base of 1 hectare, also held the title of "the largest in the world". The dressing area alone occupies nearly 1,000 square meters, equivalent to the size of many clubhouses today.

Meanwhile, the Olympia Fields membership subgroup is also in the "legendary" category, when there is an entire section for the clergy. In the 1920s, the whole complex had to mobilize up to 1,000 caddies on peak days. Thanks to that, this place has its own station and railway line, connecting Chicago to transport guests and employees.

But in the early 1940s, Olympia Fields had to downsize due to a gloomy economy. Due to needing money to overcome difficulties, the owner of the complex sold the land to real estate developers. Accordingly, they only kept the original North yard, merging the remaining three courts into one. After restructuring, Olympia Fields has only two yards left, which have survived to this day.

This week, the North par70 field is the second time being deployed by the PGA Tour BMW Championship, the first time in 2020. This tournament is only for the top 50 FedEx Cup tables, from which to choose the top 30 for the grand final of the Tour Championship to determine the champion. full season 2022-2023. The owner of the BMW Championship this year will take home $3.6 million. In the 2022 match, Patrick Cantlay received $ 2.7 million when he finished first at -14 on par71 at Wilmington Country Club in Delaware.
