The 19-year-old runner broke the 5,000m record in the national youth tournament

In the final exam on August 9, Le Thi Tuyet had no opponent. Her achievement is more than two minutes ahead of runner-up Le Thi Thanh Nga (Ha Tinh). The previous record was 16 minutes 52 seconds 31 set by Pham Thi Hue (Quang Ninh) in 2014 in Nam Dinh.

The National Youth Athletics Championship is held annually, for athletes from 16 to 19 years old. This year, the playground is for athletes born between 2004 and 2007. Last year, Le Thi Tuyet also finished first in the women's 5,000m content with a record of 17 minutes 14 seconds 83. At that time, she also won the 10,000m women's gold medal with 35 minutes 57 seconds 20.

Born in 2004, Le Thi Tuyet once shocked when she broke the marathon record of the National Sports Festival last year with 2 hours 47 minutes 3 seconds. At that time, Phu Yen's runner beat the record of 2 hours and 48 minutes, which was also established by another monument - Quang Ngai athlete Pham Thi Binh - set up at the 2014 congress.

At the 32nd SEA Games, Le Thi Tuyet represented Vietnam in the women's marathon. She won a silver medal with a parameter of 2 hours 49 minutes, when she returned after Odekta Elvina Naibaho - Indonesian athlete. In the harsh competition conditions in Cambodia, the performance of the 19-year-old athlete was highly appreciated, because the result was not too far from the achievement at the National Sports Festival.

Le Thi Tuyet has a petite figure, only 1.46 m tall and weighs 37 kg. Because of that, she is called with the nickname "Chili Pepper". After the sport was halted by Covid-19, she suddenly emerged and is considered a promising talent of Vietnamese athletics for long distances.
