MyEila Galitsky, a 16-year-old player from the Thai women's golf team who is about to attend the 32nd SEA Games, passed the cut when trying out at the 2023 Chevron Championship of the LPGA Tour.

Galitsky participated in the ongoing major at The Club par72, Texaas thanks to winning the Asia-Pacific women's amateur championship in Singapore in March. She is one of seven amateurs competing at this year's Chevron Championship. .

Considering this group at the end of round 1, only Galitsky entered the top 10, when he was in T9 with a score of -2, and the top of the table was at -5. In the opening leg, Galitsky averaged 282 yards, hit eight of the 14 fairways, went on a 12-hole GIR, and put 29 shots. With that performance, the Thai golfer scored five birdies, three bogeys.

But in round 2, of the four main technical indicators, Galitsky only managed to stabilize one item (hit the fairway). This leg, she averaged 265 yards, 11 holes GIR, 31 shots. This form resulted in 75 strokes, including five bogeys, two birdies.

However, Galitsky still won the whole tournament when at the +1 cutoff point, and the top of the table went to -8, belonging to Kim A Lim - a 27-year-old Korean golfer who won the major US Open 2020. Natthakritta Vongtaveelap - teammate of the team Galitsky at SEA Games 31 – also competed in Chevron Championship, but was disqualified for +2 pooling.

After the tournament, Galitsky is expected to compete for the 32nd SEA Games medal at Garden City Golf Club, Phnom Penh from May 8 to 13. Thai team leaders are ambitious to acquire both individual and team gold medals, male and female. "We believe the home team will bring home four gold medals," said General Secretary of the Thai Golf Association Kittisak Chaimongkoltrakul on March 24.

The previous golf tournament took place at Dam Vac par72 in Vinh Phuc in May 2022, in which Vongtaveelap won the gold medal, and Galitsky finished fifth in the individual group. In the group achievement race, the duo continued to help the home team finish first. In the men's event, Thailand won an individual bronze medal and a team silver medal.

Six months after the 31st SEA Games, Vongtaveelap turned professional and got a card on the US women's first-class golf tournament system LPGA Tour, season 2023. This year, 20-year-old Vongtaveelap has twice entered the top 6 finals on the LPGA Tour, including the runner-up position of Honda LPGA Thailand in February.
