Ten Hag criticizes Man Utd after 3-0 win
Man Utd opened the scoring from the 21st minute, but missed many opportunities in the remaining time. Ten Hag's team had to wait until the end of the second half to have two more goals in the 90th and 90+4 minutes, thanks to Marcus Rashford.
"We should have decided this match sooner," coach Ten Hag said after the win on January 10. "We created a lot of good chances in the first half hour, but we weren't sharp enough in front of goal. We need to be more efficient."
Criticizing the attacking efficiency of the players, but Ten Hag still praised the outstanding individuals. In it, he was pleased with Garnacho, the left winger who often threatened Charlton's goal. He also praised Mainoo, the 17-year-old midfielder whose first game for Man Utd, and Pellistri, who assisted Rashford to make it 2-0.
Rashford currently owns 15 goals in the first 25 games of the 2022-2023 season and has scored for the first time in six consecutive matches. He is also leading the list of goals for Man Utd. "When he is in a one-on-one position in the box, Rashford will score. If he keeps that concentration and effort, he will continue to score," Ten Hag affirmed.
After the victory over Charlton, Man Utd entered the semi-finals of the League Cup with Newcastle - the team beat Leicester 2-1. The remaining two semi-final tickets will be determined after two matches on the evening of January 11, with the pairs Nottingham - Wolves and Southampton - Man City.
Besides the League Cup, Man Utd also entered the fourth round of the FA Cup, the Europa League play-off series and reached fourth in the English Premier League. On January 14, "Red Devils" will take on Man City in round 20 of the English Premier League. Man Utd is also on a winning streak of eight consecutive matches in all competitions. This is the longest winning streak since Ten Hag took over the club in June 2022.
