Surprise: Longtime foreign soldier DeAngelo Hamilton broke up with Cantho Catfish, feeling betrayed?

In a post on his personal page, DeAngelo Hamilton suddenly said goodbye to Cantho Catfish after many years of attachment. He said that he had "put a lot of effort and enthusiasm into Vietnamese basketball only to ... everything was thrown in the trash".

No longer a Cantho Catfish player. Maybe it's time to retire. After many years here and being cut by this team, my heart and spirit hit the bottom.

This share of DeAngelo Hamilton as implicitly confirms that he broke up with Cantho Catfish after many years of attachment. VBA 2023 is the 5th season that the 33-year-old foreign player plays for the Western team.

Bigman, born in 1990, came to VBA in 2017 and has been with Cantho Catfish Club for three consecutive seasons. This is also the third consecutive year that the Western team has reached the VBA Finals, winning the 2018 season.

Hamilton's power comes at both ends of the field. On one side of him is a muscular attacking machine with a flexible play style, good finishing at both close range and middle distance. On the other hand, DeAngelo is known as "Block Machine" with many beautiful blocks.

He currently holds the record for the most tackles in a match with 9 blocks, achieved in the 2019 VBA season.

But the effectiveness of Hamilton's play has decreased significantly in recent times. The physical background made the American foreign soldiers many times feel out of breath and could not keep up with the pace of the match.

The VBA 2023 season statistics yield the lowest numbers of DeAngelo's career. He averaged 17.9 points, 14.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in nine appearances this season.

DeAngelo's finishing efficiency is 43% FG, 18.8% 3PT and 62.5% FT. On the defensive side, "Block Machine" is currently averaging 2.2 steals (4th in all VBA) and 2.8 blocks (second in all VBA).

It is still unclear who Cantho Catfish will choose for the remaining foreign player position next to Brachon Griffin, or whether they will play with only 1 foreign player for the rest of VBA 2023.

In the next match, Catfish will have the first trip with the match against Ho Chi Minh City Wings on the evening of July 28. This is the starting point for Catfish's 5 matches away from home, against teams in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang, respectively.
