Almost a week after the house in England was broken into, Raheem Sterling brought his wife and children back to Qatar, preparing for the quarter-finals of the World Cup 2022.

British newspaper Sports Mail reported that Sterling and his family were at Heathrow Airport on December 8. They flew together to Qatar, where England are preparing for the quarter-finals of the World Cup 2022 against France on the evening of December 10.

The FA also issued a brief statement confirming Sterling's return to the team. Meanwhile, British police reportedly arrested two men on suspicion of breaking into Sterling's home. They claim that the thieves did not carry weapons when carrying out the operation.

Earlier on the evening of December 3, thieves raided Sterling's mansion in Oxshott, Surrey (London), less than 24 hours before the England - Senegal match in the round of 1/8 World Cup 2022. When the incident happened, Ms. Paige Milian and Sterling's three children are in the house. Thieves stole watches and jewelry worth about $370,000. Chelsea have sent a number of security personnel to guard the outside of Sterling's house since then.

After hearing the news, Sterling immediately flew from Qatar back to England, missing the home team's 3-0 victory. The 28-year-old star previously started the first two matches of the group stage, contributing a goal in the 6-2 victory over Iran. British media said that with the recent incident, the possibility of Sterling kicking the quarter-finals of the World Cup against France is not high.

Sterling joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 from Man City. In September 2021, another Chelsea player, Reece James also became the victim of a burglary. The suspect took away the Champions League, European Super Cup and Euro 2021 runners-up.

Sterling is the second England player to drop out of the World Cup. Before him, central defender Ben White was informed that he would not continue to participate in the tournament. According to Sports Mail, the Arsenal player quarreled with England assistant coach Steve Holland, as well as did not get along with teammates in Qatar.
