Start of the Open Basketball Championship in Phu Nhuan District to compete for the LEE Sport Cup in 2023
On Monday evening (July 24) at the School Sports Club of Phu Nhuan District, the Opening Ceremony of the Open Basketball Championship in Phu Nhuan District, LEE Sport Cup 2023, took place.
The ceremony marks the return of one of the leading basketball tournaments in Ho Chi Minh City, which is held annually in August. This playground first appeared in 2016, and has now entered its 7th season.
In the 7th time held, the tournament has attracted the participation of 24 teams, which are clubs, associations and groups from all over Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the tournament also has two special clubs from Vung Tau (Vung Tau Pirates) and Binh Duong (Sammy).
Over the years of organization, the tournament has continuously improved in size to attract more attendees, while maintaining the best facilities among the basketball tournaments in Ho Chi Minh City.
This both creates the best competition conditions for athletes, almost approaching the professional level, and spreads the image of the tournament to basketball fans on social networking sites.
In terms of expertise, this tournament attracts 24 teams including many familiar names in the Ho Chi Minh City basketball movement such as the host Hustle, the reigning champion Old Man Heat or names like Saigon Hot, Iron Body, Saigon Souls, Binh Thanh, Tan Binh...
In addition, the remaining names are clubs, which are associations and groups with regular activities in Ho Chi Minh City and some neighboring localities. Some teams are alumni of the University.
This year, BTC clearly stipulates in the charter on the use of foreign players, overseas Vietnamese and professional players. Accordingly, each player is only allowed to use 1 foreign player (European, American) or overseas Vietnamese, and at the same time cannot have more than 2 VBA players to play.
This not only ensures a highly specialized playing field, but also limits the use of professional players to avoid creating too large a difference in level between the teams.
The LEE Sport 2023 basketball tournament will take place from July 24 to August 30, 2023. Matches will be played every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the indoor basketball court of the School Sports Club in Phu Nhuan District (address at 18A Hoang Dieu, Ward 10, Phu Nhuan District).
