Spain may lose coach Enrique after the 2022 World Cup
"We cannot compete with clubs that offer a salary of 10 million or 20 million euros. Before that, Luis Enrique turned down a very large amount. When we return to Spain, we will analyze everything together. things," Rubiales said on the radio program El Larguero on November 29.
According to Rubiales, Enrique once received a "huge" offer from an English Premier League club in 2018. However, the former Barca coach refused to lead the Spain team with a lower salary.
According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League club that wants to hire Enrique is Chelsea. This summer, Man Utd also wants to invite Spain coach, before choosing Erik Ten Hag.
In 2021, Enrique took Spain to the semi-finals of the Euro and the final of the Nations League. In the 2022 World Cup, the red shirt team is playing smoothly. They won starting with a 7-0 win over Costa Rica and then a 1-1 draw with Germany. In the final match of the group stage, Spain only needs to draw with Japan to continue.
Asked if he wanted Enrique to stay after the World Cup, Rubiales replied: "I want to win the World Cup. After that, whether he stays or not depends on the possibility of an agreement."
Enrique once led Barca to win two La Ligas, three King's Cups and a Champions League. In the 2014-2015 season, he helped Barca win the second treble in history.
According to the Daily Mail, Enrique is unlikely to return to the Camp Nou if he leaves the Spain team after the World Cup. Barca remains patient with coach Xavi, who failed to get them through the Champions League group stage but is leading La Liga. Enrique is also unlikely to go to Atletico. Diego Simeone has a contract with the Spanish capital club until 2024.
England could be an option for Enrique. In a recent talk, the Spain coach admitted his regret when playing was not going to England. "In my time, Serie A was the strongest. But going to England will help me improve my English, experience more physical football, more intense and a different culture," Enrique said.
As a player, Enrique won a La Liga, a Copa del Rey and a Spanish Super Cup with Real Madrid. After moving to Barca in 1996, he won two more La Ligas, two King's Cups, a Spanish Super Cup, a C2 Cup and a European Super Cup. With Spain, he played 62 matches and scored 12 goals.
