SLNA draws for the fifth time in a row in V-League 2023

After the first four rounds were completely drawn, SLNA is expected to win all three points when playing at home in round 5, facing the struggling opponent at the bottom of the Binh Duong scoreboard. Confrontation history also favors SLNA when winning nine and drawing one of the last 10 matches against Binh Duong. If only on Vinh field, they even won the last five times against this opponent.

Binh Duong is also thirsty for victory, after earning only two points from the first four rounds - the result circuit forced coach Lu Dinh Tuan to make way for new coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan.

Binh Duong entered the game confidently, with a flexible ball control style. They even nearly opened the scoring, but striker Nguyen Tien Linh missed in the 10th minute. Nearly 10 minutes later, SLNA had the first significant opportunity. Midfielder Vytas Gaspuitis, 1.97 m tall, went up to take part in the corner, and hit his head narrowly off the post.

This broken phase more or less stimulated the competitive spirit of SLNA, helping them create more opportunities from the aggressiveness of Trong Hoang, Xuan Manh, Xuan Tien, Ba Sang, and Van Cuong. From a free kick outside the penalty area, Vietnam U20 player Bui Vi Hao missed the fence, sending the ball into the high corner. Goalkeeper Van Hoang flew to touch the ball, but could not save. Vi Hao is a striker in the U20 shirt of Vietnam, but in Binh Duong, he is classified as a winger. This is the first goal of the 20-year-old player in the V-League 2023.

SLNA rebounded strongly at the end of the first half, but continued to lack the sharpness to convert opportunities. In the 45th minute, Trong Hoang escaped to the left corner and stretched to let Soladio cushion the ball but was broken by center-back Thanh Loc on the line when goalkeeper Minh Toan was helpless.

In the second half, Binh Duong still had a defensive cluster, while SLNA raised the squad to find an equalizer. Despite many opportunities, strikers Olaha, Soladio and even midfielder Vytas Gaspuitis also lacked accuracy. SLNA's efforts to force the pitch have also paid off. In the 77th minute, from the corner, Xuan Manh headed the ball back to Gaspuitis to cushion the close to equalize 1-1.

SLNA can even win when morale up late in the game. In the 86th minute, Dinh Tien took a decisive shot, but goalkeeper Minh Toan reflexively saved it. This save was one of many situations where Binh Duong goalkeeper played brilliantly from the start, helping the visitors leave with a point.

This result makes SLNA the first team of the V-League 2023 to draw five consecutive matches. Meanwhile, Binh Duong continues to be at the bottom of the table.

In round 6 on April 11, SLNA will go to the North as a guest of Nam Dinh, while Binh Duong will return home to receive the Hanoi Police one day later.
