Sisters Truong Thao Vy and Thao My: After the SEA Games will be time for family
At the 32nd SEA Games, the sisters Truong Thao My - Truong Thao Vy are extremely prominent names for the Vietnamese basketball team in particular and the Vietnamese sports delegation attending the 32nd SEA Games in general. They took home the gold medal in the 3x3 event, and together with their teammates took fourth place in the 5x5 event.
Both of the above achievements have brought the most successful SEA Games in the history of Vietnamese women's basketball, even though we have to face many teams with good naturalized players like Indonesia or Cambodia.
"This SEA Games is a good tournament, I really know where I am, at what level is Vietnam's basketball compared to other countries," shared Truong Thao Vy. "There is nothing negative about this tournament. Failures will teach us many lessons."
"Look at the scores of the matches. Except for the loss to the Philippines, we have a chance to win all the matches. Indonesia won the Gold medal, but they must have had moments of anxiety. in the opening match. All the players played well, played their best and united together to create that strength."
Team spirit and solidarity are what both Truong sisters emphasized in the victory of the Vietnamese women's basketball team. They do not talk much about themselves, but want to draw attention to the sisters who have accompanied them in Phnom Penh.
"We have many new memories, more time with teammates in the national team." Thao My expressed. "There are many memorable memories. I will especially not forget every meal with my sisters. Moreover, I also have to face many strong opponents in this SEA Games."
"I am very happy to be able to achieve these achievements with my teammates." Thao Vy continued, "Basketball is a team sport, I alone cannot bring about all these glory. It's an honor to be able to play with such great teammates."
In order to have success with the Vietnamese women's basketball team, Truong Twins had to make a lot of sacrifices when suppressing pain to compete. The sisters lost their grandmother just before the tournament, and only learned about it after winning gold in the 3x3 content. After finishing their journey in Phnom Penh, family will be their top priority.
"After finishing our journey at SEA Games, we will try to practice to improve our level and spend more time with family. I haven't seen my loved ones since Christmas. It's good to be able to come back and spend more time with family and friends," shared Truong Thao Vy before leaving.
According to the original plan, the Truong sisters would fly to Ho Chi Minh City with the whole team before returning to the US. However, after the death of her grandmother, Truong Twins will fly back to the US to share her sadness with family members.
