According to the legendary Ronaldo Nazario, Fernando Diniz is the right person to succeed Tite, even though he wants the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) to appoint Pep Guardiola.

The 46-year-old Brazilian player discussed the candidate to replace Tite - the coach who had just resigned after the defeat in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup - in an online video on Youtube on December 11. Besides Guardiola, other candidates mentioned by Ronaldo Nazario include Jorge Sampaoli, Jorge Jesus, Dorival Silvestre Junior, Mano Menezes, Rogerio Ceni, Fernando Diniz, Renato Gaucho, Abel Ferreira and Alexi Stival, the coach known by the nickname Cuca. .

Among these, Ronaldo believes CBF will choose Diniz - the current coach of Fluminense club famous for his ball control style and nicknamed "Brazilian Guardiola". Ronaldo praised Diniz as a good coach and wants CBF to close the coaching staff soon to reform after the 2022 World Cup.

"This is a very important decision for the next cycle. The sooner CBF announces the coach, the more time he has to convey the philosophy to the whole team. I am very curious," Ronaldo added.

While still playing, Diniz started his career with Juventus-SP in 1993, and only played domestically for clubs such as Palmeiras, Corinthians, Parana, Fluminense, Flamengo, Juventude, Cruzeiro or Santos. He never made it to the Brazilian national team and retired with Vasco da Gama in 2008, at the age of 34.

Diniz began his coaching career at Votoraty, and mainly led the weak and lower clubs in Brazil. Since 2018, he is better known when he led the Brazilian national championship, respectively at Atletico Paranaense, Fluminense, Sao Paulo, Santos, Vasco da Gama and Fluminense.

Guardiola is the most famous figure in the group of candidates mentioned by Ronaldo Nazario. Earlier this year, CBF was said to have contacted Pere - Guardiola's brother and agent - to succeed Tite after the 2022 World Cup on a four-year contract. But the Spanish coach refused, when he received an offer with a seasonal salary of more than 13 million USD after tax, half of the income at Man City. On November 23, Guardiola also extended his contract until June 2025, extending his stay with the Etihad Stadium owner to nine years, since taking office in the summer of 2016.

"Brazil are interested and have had discussions with Guardiola, but he would rather extend with Man City," Ronaldo said. "But it is difficult for the CBF to reach an agreement, when Guardiola is the highest paid coach in the world."

After losing to Croatia in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup, Tite - whose full name is Adenor Leonardo Bacchi - resigned, ending six years leading Brazil. He was appointed coach of this team in June 2016 to replace Carlos Dunga, and with Brazil stopped in the quarterfinals in two World Cups. Tite helped Brazil win the Copa America 2019, but lost to Argentina in the final in 2021. His win rate over 81 matches for Brazil reached 74.07%.

Yesterday, December 11, Neymar paid tribute to Tite with a post on Instagram. "We had good moments and hurtful moments. We deserved to win this trophy. Thank you Tite, for all that we have learned," the 30-year-old striker wrote.
