Rashford scored twice in Man Utd's win
This is the fifth game in a row Rashford has scored for Man Utd. The double helped him bring the total number of goals in all competitions this season to 24, a record number in the career of the 25-year-old striker. Notably, 16 of them were scored after the 2022 World Cup, the tournament Rashford also played very successfully with three goals for England. At home alone, Rashford scored 17 goals in the 2022-2023 season and became the highest scorer at Old Trafford since Wayne Rooney in the 2011-2012 season (19).
The match did not start well for Man Utd. After a few minutes of excitement, they were confused by the speed counterattacks on the right wing of Leicester. Host midfielders like Fred or Marcel Sabitzer constantly handle errors and lose the ball. In the ninth minute, Man Utd needed David De Gea's talent to avoid a goal when Harvey Barnes escaped to face after a combination with Kelechi Iheanacho.
Minutes later, Man Utd's goal was put in a state of alarm. Fred and Victor Lindelof played hard to prevent the opportunity from coming to Iheanacho and Barnes. When the home defenders made a mistake in position, allowing Iheanacho to comfortably head after a cross from Timothy Castagne, De Gea once again reacted brilliantly to save.
In the midst of difficulties, Man Utd opened the scoring. It was Leicester's turn to make a mistake when Wout Faes' pass was cut by Sabitzer. Bruno Fernandes flicked his cheek skillfully and Harry Souttar's position error created the conditions for Rashford to break the offside trap, before defeating goalkeeper Danny Ward.
