Rahm meets 'red luck' at Genesis Invitational 2023
Round 3 on February 18, Rahm went from hole 1, entered hole 3, par4 and played into the fence, initially thinking it was a parking lot but it turned out to be a place to store supplies for the tournament.
He continued to play the backup ball and then didn't need to find the original ball to continue playing even though he closed the falling area. On the second shot, he dropped a new ball in the rough grass a club distance from the fence with a clear direction.
That position shows that Rahm, after hitting the "Temporary Impossible Obstruction" (TIO) area, was given the advantage of F-23, applicable to tournament (local rules) in the Department general rules of golf. This section states that "if the original ball is not found but it is clearly established that it is already in the TIO, the player is exempt from the penalty and drops a new ball outside, within one stroke of the original ball's fence.
After the release, Rahm was 130 yards from the flag, then went to the green and kept par on hole 3. If he didn't play at the correct TIO, the Spanish golfer who is third in the world would probably get a worse result.
In round 2, Rahm was also lucky, at the 17th hole par5. There, he used the number 3 wooden stick for the second shot, 270 yards from the flag. The ball crossed the green, hit the wall behind the stands and bounced back, less than a meter from the hole for Rahm to score the eagle from.

"I was a bit embarrassed about that score. Good luck. It can be said to be the luckiest in the world," Rahm commented on the 17th hole eagle.
In the penultimate stage, Rahm did not bogey, scoring six birdies to monopolize the top of the table with a score of -15. Right behind him is Max Homa at -12. Homa won the Genesis Invitational cup in 2021, also in Riviera with a -12 win. At that time, Rahm returned to T5 (-7)
Rahm is in great form. From August 2022 to now, he has received a combined bonus of more than 8 million USD when playing both the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour, a total of 12 awards, including four cups divided equally between the two arenas and eight times in the top 8.
Rahm is 28 years old, currently owns nine PGA Tour championships, including the major US Open 2021. He has accumulated 43 weeks of holding the number one position in the world professional men's golf table.
