Italy Former Chelsea player, Christian Pulisic made a big contribution to AC Milan's 2-0 win over Bologna.

In the first round match of Serie A taking place on the evening of August 21, Pulisic started the attack next to Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao. In the 11th minute, the American winger launched an attack that led to the goal, with a cross to the left. After Tijani Reijnders picked up the ball and crossed into the 5m50 area, Giroud shot from close range to open the scoring for Milan. The French striker scored his first goal with his right foot after more than two years playing for the Italian team.

Milan only took 10 more minutes to get the second goal and the winning goal. This time, it was Pulisic who scored. After hitting the wall with Giroud, the American winger shot from 19 meters into the net of Bologna. He became the first American player to score in three of Europe's top five national championships. Before that, Pulisic had scored in the Bundesliga for Dortmund and the Premier League for Chelsea.

During the summer transfer window, Milan bought Pulisic from Chelsea for $ 24 million. The English team accepted a loss of 50 million compared to the time of buying the 24-year-old player from Dortmund in 2019. Pulisic had to leave because the Chelsea squad swelled after a year of endless shopping by the new owner Todd Boehly.

After two early goals, Milan continued to play proactively. In the 89th minute, Rafael Leao almost raised the score to 3-0 for the visitors with a sinking shot that hit the column. Meanwhile, Bologna had some good attacks, but failed to beat goalkeeper Mike Maignan and the wooden frame.

Victory at Bologna helped Milan start Serie A with fourth place. Fiorentina took the lead after beating Genoa 4-1, while Juventus beat Udinese 3-0 and defending champions Napoli beat Frosinone 3-1.
