The American player Nguyen Duc Anh Chien stopped in the quarterfinals of the World Cup 3 tapes carom in Las Vegas, making Vietnam clear the representative ball at the tournament.

Chien is the only Vietnamese player to win in the 1/8 round, before compatriot Bao Phuong Vinh, with a score of 50-43 after 39 innings. In the quarterfinals taking place this morning, March 4, Hanoi time, he lost to Tayfun Tasdemir 30-50 after 26 rounds, missing the opportunity to enter the semi-finals for the second time in his career. Anh Chien's best performance at the World Cup was the semi-final in Veghel, Netherlands in 2019.

Also in the 1/8 round, Vietnam's number one player Tran Quyet Chien lost to record holder Torbjorn Blomdahl 18-50 after 22 turns and stopped. Before that, he won all three matches in the group stage, with a performance of 2,181 points per turn, the second highest in the round. In the 1/8 round, Quyet Chien's performance was only 0.818 points, the second lowest among 16 players.

The two semi-final pairs at the tournament were Tasdemir - Marco Zanetti and Kim Haeng-jik - Kim Jun-tae. Among them, only Jun-tae has never won the World Cup. The series of semi-finals and finals took place on Sunday morning, March 5, Hanoi time.

The three-band carom World Cup takes place about six or seven tournaments a year, with four qualifying rounds, one group stage and a knockout round. Players must reach the final qualifying round to receive the bonus. The best achievement of a Vietnamese player at the tournament was the championship of Quyet Chien in Ho Chi Minh City in 2018.

The World Cup in Las Vegas is the first world tournament in 2023, taking place from February 26 to March 4, including four qualifiers, a group stage and a knockout round. The first tournament was supposed to take place in Turkey in February 2023, but was canceled due to the earthquake disaster.

The total prize money of the tournament is 106,500 euros (about 113,500 USD), of which the champion receives 17,000 USD. Chien left with more than 3,700 USD in prize money, and Phuong Vinh and Quyet Chien both received nearly 2,700 USD.
