Phu Yen athlete breaks the marathon record of the National Sports Festival
With a record of 2 hours 47 minutes 3 seconds, Le Thi Tuyet set a new record of the Games. The old record was 2 hours 48 minutes set by Quang Ngai athlete Pham Thi Binh in 2014.
In addition to the new record achievement, the runner born in 2004 impressed with his small stature, only 1m46 tall and weighing 37kg.
This congress is also the first time Le Thi Tuyet competes in the marathon distance. This 18-year-old athlete was also surprised when he won the gold medal. At this distance, Binh Phuoc athlete Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa and army runner Nguyen Thi Ninh are the championship candidates. However, Ninh only finished second with a record of 2 hours 48 minutes 3 seconds while Hoa won the bronze medal, reaching 2 hours 51 minutes 2 seconds.
"Barefoot Queen" Pham Thi Binh also represented Quang Ngai to compete in the marathon at this year's National Sports Festival. She finished fourth, achieving a time of 2 hours 58 minutes 4 seconds.
There were no surprises in the men's marathon when 31st SEA Games champion Hoang Nguyen Thanh finished first after 2 hours 25 minutes 20 seconds. This achievement also helped this Binh Phuoc athlete break the Games record of 2 hours 26 minutes 32 seconds set by Bui The Anh (Army) in 2014.
