Pham Thanh Luong is about to lead Hoa Binh Club
This summer Pham Thanh Luong met with manager Do Quang Hien to ask to leave the club and was approved, although the contract is still valid until the end of 2023. He received two invitations to work as a coach, but decided to Hoa Binh FC - the team. Football is playing in the First Division and has just parted ways with coach Nguyen Quoc Vuong. The two sides have reached a preliminary agreement.
Thanh Luong was born in 1988, grew up from the Hanoi ACB training academy of manager Nguyen Duc Kien. The player born in Ha Tay has a small body, only 1.66 m tall, but plays smart with a special left foot. Therefore, he was called with the nickname "weird" Luong.
Thanh Luong joined Hanoi T&T, the team later renamed Hanoi FC, in 2013 when Hanoi ACB club disbanded due to the incident when Kien was arrested.
Thanh Luong is considered a "god" at Hanoi FC when he and the team won five V-League championships, three National Cups and four National Super Cups. At the team level, he won the AFF Cup 2008. Thanh Luong retired from the team in 2016 and was invited back by coach Park Hang-seo but refused because he wanted to give opportunities to young players. This midfielder was also voted Vietnam Golden Ball four times in 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2016.
Thanh Luong rarely plays on the field in the 2023 season due to age issues. Initially, he intended to transfer to a team in the First Division to join the coaching staff and play. But after that, he decided not to continue playing football.
Hanoi FC is undergoing great changes in terms of personnel. Besides the departure of Thanh Luong, the team could not keep Bui Hoang Viet Anh, the central defender will move to the Hanoi Police. Right-back Tran Van Kien also asked to liquidate the contract to join Nam Dinh.
