Coach Patrick Vieira became the ninth manager to lose his job in the Premier League this season, after 12 consecutive matches without winning Crystal Palace.

"The club has confirmed that Patrick Vieira will leave the position of head coach of the team," Crystal Palace's announcement read. Vieira's assistants Osian Roberts, Kristian Wilson and Said Aigoun also left the team.

"It is with great regret that we have to make this difficult decision," said Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish. "The results in recent months have put us in an unsafe position. The team needs to change to maintain a foothold in the Premier League."

Crystal Palace did not win in the last 12 matches. The 0-1 defeat to Brighton in the middle of the week is the fourth game in a row they have not scored. The Selhurst Park home team is ranked 12th in the English Premier League, but only three points above the "red light" group. Last season, Crystal Palace also finished the season in 12th place.

Coach Vieira arrived at Crystal Palace in July 2021. He achieved a 30% win rate after 74 matches at the club. Last season, the French strategist helped Palace reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Earlier this season, the team also won five of their 13 matches in the Premier League. However, conflicts with the board and the club's recent poor performance make Vieira the ninth coach to lose his job in the Premier League this season. Previously, eight managers at seven clubs were sacked, including Jesse Marsch, Scott Parker, Thomas Tuchel, Bruno Lage, Steven Gerrard, Ralph Hasenhuttl, Frank Lampard and Nathan Jones.

Crystal Palace is likely to come to Arsenal this weekend without a new coach. The team's leadership is targeting Vincent Kompany (Burnley) and Michael Carrick (Middlesbrough), two coaches who are impressing in the First Division. Former Leeds manager Jesse Marsch and former Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl are also good candidates.
