Opponents call for punishment for Marc Marquez for crashing a car
"I hope there will be a penalty. That makes sense," Martin told Marca (Spain). "This isn't the first time he's hit me. It's not just me, many other drivers have been hit. Calling for forgiveness from colleagues and fans is no longer right for Marquez. I think something needs to be done to punish him. punish him".
Marquez crashed into Miguel Oliveira on the Portimao track on March 26. This is the opening stage of the 2023 Moto GP season. On Turn 3 of the third round, the six-time Moto GP champion recklessly overtook Martin and continued to attack Oliveira but brake late and collided with his opponent. The collision caused the two riders to be ejected from the car. Oliveira was unable to get up, while Marquez approached to examine the situation of his colleague.
Martin was affected by Marquez before colliding with Oliveira. According to the Spaniard, he broke his toe bone and sprained his ankle but managed to squeeze the pain to continue competing. Even so, Martin could not finish the race. He thinks that if he doesn't get into an accident, he can reach the top four.

This is not the first time Marquez has run into Martin. Two drivers collided at the start at Silverstone 2021 and had to give up early. "This is not the first time he has ruined my race. Maybe the track director needs to do something. I have never broken, or injured him. This is the second time. Hopefully Marquez will withdraw. lesson," Martin said.
Because of the act of causing the accident, Marquez was fined to run two outer loops in the next leg - the Argentine GP. However, the 30-year-old racer has not been able to carry out the penalty. The Repsol Honda team announced that Marquez had broken his right thumb and would miss the next leg due to surgery.
Marquez won pole at the Portuguese GP but could not take advantage to score. The accident at the beginning of the season was a blow to Repsol Honda's 2023 Moto GP ambition, especially when defending champion Francesco Bagnaia won all 37 points when he finished first in both the acceleration stage and the main race.
