Former defender Gary Neville said that his performance against Man Utd proved why Arsenal spent $133 million on Declan Rice.

"Rice waved to the fans. Arsenal fans love him. They have a new hero, even though Rice has only played a few games for Arsenal. They are so excited with what he has shown. That's why Rice came to the Emirates , is the reason why Arsenal spent that much money. He created an important moment in the big match," Neville said on Sky Sports after the match at the Emirates.

The competition between Arsenal and Man Utd at Emirates Stadium seemed to end with a 1-1 draw before Rice scored in the sixth minute of injury. From a corner kick, he received the ball in the second column in an unmarked position. Rice's volley then hit an opposing player, leaving goalkeeper Andre Onana unable to block it even though he touched the ball.

This goal set the stage for Gabriel Jesus to score a 3-1 score for the "Gunners" a few minutes later. An important victory helped Arsenal catch up with the top group of the Premier League after four rounds, while Man Utd dropped to the bottom half of the scoreboard.

Arsenal spent $133 million on Rice this summer, making him the most expensive contract in the club's history. Along with Kai Havertz, Justin Timber and David Raya, Rice is expected to elevate Arsenal, helping them compete for the championship after being surpassed by Man City last season.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta also had good words for Rice after the match: "An impressive performance from Rice. As a holding midfielder, he knows how to control his area and disrupt the opponent's play. . Rice did that well. And then he created a magical moment, helping us win the match. That quality, that composure is necessary and Rice possesses it."

Rice was welcomed as a hero by Arsenal fans when he moved in and his performance in the match on the evening of September 3 made him even more praised. A large number of Arsenal fans waited near the Rice area for post-match interviews to chant his name.

When Rice was still playing for West Ham, there was an opinion that he deserved to be given higher playing conditions to score goals. Arteta believes that his new student will have the opportunity to do that at Arsenal this season. He said: "When you see his technical qualities and handling in such moments, you can see Rice's ability to score goals. He can shoot from many positions, with both feet." and know when to move. How to choose a position will determine how many goals Rice scores and he has the ability to do that."
