Neville: 'Ramsdale can help Arsenal win the title'

Former Man Utd defender Gary Neville thinks that Aaron Ramsdale's goalkeeper helping Arsenal to draw Liverpool can create a turning point in the race to win the Premier League.

"What Ramsdale did at Anfield today could lead Arsenal to the title," Neville said in Sky Sports' post-match commentary. He believes that not losing after taking a two-goal lead will help Arsenal avoid a mental breakdown at a key stage of the season.

Arsenal drew Liverpool 2-2 on April 9 despite leading two goals in the first half. They could have lost if Mohamed Salah hadn't squandered a second-half penalty and Ramsdale hadn't played brilliantly in the final minutes. The Arsenal goalkeeper repeatedly stopped Salah's heart attack, Darwin Nunez's face-to-face phase and Ibrahima Konate's close-range finish.

Coach Mikel Arteta's teachers and students have 73 points, six more than Man City but played more than one game. The two teams will face off directly in 16 days. Arsenal also meet Chelsea and Newcastle in the coming days. "This is a very valuable point for Arsenal," added Neville. "Standing at Anfield will give them confidence when they are guests of Man City and Newcastle, similar dangers."

Neville thinks Arsenal will drop more points in the last eight rounds, but the same goes for Man City. Arsenal therefore still have many chances to win the title, which they have not done since 2004.

Neville's former team-mate Roy Keane also thinks Arsenal should be happy about the 2-2 draw. He said: "Playing at Anfield is always difficult, regardless of whether you are leading. This is a great point for Arsenal in the context of Man City's acceleration."

Arsenal wholeheartedly for the Premier League race because they have been eliminated in other competitions. They will meet West Ham this weekend, then Southampton next weekend, before being guests of Man City. The "Gunners" then took on Chelsea, played against Newcastle and Brighton. In the last two rounds, they met Nottingham Forest and Wolves respectively - the teams are racing to stay relegation.
