NBA transfer: Jaylen Brown received the most expensive supermax contract in history
According to prestigious journalist Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Boston Celtics and Jaylen Brown have reached an agreement to renew the contract with the largest value in NBA history. As follows:

- Both parties agree that the contract includes a trade kicker clause and does not have a final year clause. Thus, Brown will receive 100% of the above $ 304 million.
- Brown's starting salary at the new contract is 52.3 million USD (season 2024-25). This number will increase to over $69 million in the 2028-29 season, when he will be 31 years old.
Last season, Jaylen Brown just had the best set of stats of his career, averaging 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. This performance helped him make it to the All-NBA 2nd Team.

Although the negotiation process started a little later than originally planned, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics came to a final agreement without any surprises.
In the short term, this is considered a win-win contract when both sides benefit. Brown will have a kicker trade clause, meaning he will be compensated 15% of the contract value if he is traded to another team.
The Boston Celtics benefited from keeping Brown for 5 full seasons (without the Player Option clause), taking full control of the future of the scorer born in 1996.

This move means that the Boston Celtics have "all-in" with a superstar trio including Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis.
While the quality of the Celtics squad is still appreciated by experts, technical director Brad Stevens will need to improve the defense and flexibility of the satellites to increase their ability to compete for the title.
This will be a difficult problem to solve because Boston has now spent a lot of money on the Brown - Tatum - Porzingis trio.
