The decision was made after a meeting on the same day with the participation of 27 people, belonging to the Association's Executive Committee and representatives of member fan clubs in the province. Accordingly, 100% of the members agreed to dissolve, and stop all cheering activities on the field.

Nam Dinh Club's fan association will not be related to the football cheering activities of other members. In addition, the association will hand over the office located at Thien Truong yard to the yard management board, not keeping the fan page name Nam Dinh Football Supporters Association, but changing it to "Nam Dinh Football Past and Present".

The above dissolution decision originated from the match Nam Dinh lost against the Hanoi Police on August 2nd 1-2 on Thien Truong Stadium in the fourth round of phase II V-League 2023. That day, although there was still a chance to race for the championship. , Nam Dinh replaced eight positions in the starting lineup, and there were actions that were considered to be lacking in positive spirit.

Fans at Thien Truong Stadium immediately reacted strongly by throwing drums on the field, burning shirts right in the match. On the morning of August 3, Nam Dinh Fan Association returned a large number of free club shirts, by summarizing and placing it in front of the door of the director's office of Nam Dinh Green Steel Joint Stock Company. After this incident, the club also did not have a dialogue with the Fan Association.

After the match, many fans announced that they would not come to the stadium to cheer for Nam Dinh until the end of the tournament. In the 5th round of phase II, a group of Nam Dinh fans were still present on Lach Tray field cheering in the match Nam Dinh lost to Hai Phong 0-2, but this group was not part of the Nam Dinh Fan Association.

Nam Dinh Fan Association was born in the 2000s, and with the club went through many ups and downs, such as winning the V-League runner-up in 2004, winning the 2007 National Cup to being relegated to two consecutive places in 2010, 2011. After eight years, Nam Dinh recently returned to the V-League but often struggled with the relegation race. In early 2022, Nam Dinh had a new sponsor and was invested in buying many quality players a year later with the ambition to compete for high positions.

Before Nam Dinh, SLNA fans also took drastic actions in the 21st round of the V-League 2022, because they thought the club played superficially. Instead of cheering for the SLNA match as a guest in front of Ho Chi Minh City Club, thousands of SLNA fans came to Binh Duong Stadium to cheer for Ha Tinh Club.
