Man Utd won the Premier League opening match
The only goal of midfielder Raphael Varane helped Man Utd beat Wolves 1-0, in the first round of the Premier League on August 14.
Playing at home, but Man Utd cannot impose the game on the opponent. Wolves, who played badly away from home last season and had just changed their manager just before the tournament, were the more cohesive players. The away team finished 23 times and had an expected goal index (xG) up to 2.14, higher than Man Utd (1.49). But after missing a series of opportunities, Wolves paid the price. Two Man Utd defenders, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Raphael Varane, combined to create the only goal, helping the "Red Devils" win the first three points.
