Man Utd sell Fred

Galatasaray asked to buy first, but rival in Türkiye, Fenerbahce successfully cut the upper hand with a more suitable price. On August 10, Man Utd accepted an offer of $ 17 million from the runner-up of the Turkish Championship last season. According to Team Talk, Fenerbahce and Fred also reached a personal agreement.

Fred lost his starting position at Man Utd last season, when coach Erik Ten Hag recruited Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. With Man Utd buying more Mason Mount this summer and keeping Scott McTominay, if he stays, the Brazilian midfielder could just be a fifth choice in midfield.

Fred's departure could pave the way for Sofyan Amrabat to return to Man Utd. Amrabat has a one-year contract with Fiorentina and is worth about 33 million USD. If the transfer is successful, the 26-year-old Moroccan midfielder will be Man Ud's fourth biggest contract this summer.

Previously, the "Red Devils" spent $ 70 million to buy Mason Mount from Chelsea, $ 60 million to buy goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan and $ 83 million to buy striker Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.

In addition to Fred, Man Utd also released goalkeeper David De Gea, loaned Sociedad Donny Van de Beek, sold Alex Telles to Al Nassr, Anthony Elanga to Nottingham Forest and Harry Maguire to West Ham. Total proceeds are about 82 million USD.

Fred joined Man Utd from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018, for $ 59 million. In five seasons, the 30-year-old Brazilian midfielder played 213 games, scored 14 goals and won the English League Cup. Fred is also a Brazilian player to the final of the Copa America 2021, the quarterfinals of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
