Two offers of $ 38 million for Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay from West Ham were rejected by Man Utd.

West Ham once asked to buy Maguire $ 25 million, but was unsuccessful. On August 7, the London team increased its offer to 38 million but still could not convince Man Utd to release, according to Manchester Evening News. Besides Maguire, West Ham offered the same price to McTominay and was also rejected.

Maguire is no longer part of Erik Ten Hag's plans and is in need of liquidation. The former captain's defender made the Old Trafford team awkward. They spent a record $ 97 million to recruit Maguire from Leicester in 2019 but are unlikely to get half of that amount if they sell him.

Man Utd is ready to let McTominay leave for $ 57 million. They believe that the Scottish midfielder is worth more than West Ham's offer and is watched by many clubs. Man Utd consider McTominay to have highly appreciated qualities such as national team form, age 26, professionalism and good physicality.

The "Red Devils" are also negotiating to push Donny van de Beek to Real Sociedad on loan, and consider offers for Fred. In the opposite direction, Man Utd hopes to quickly complete the purchase of defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina and midfielder Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice.

On the West Ham side, they are busy calculating expenses after having a large amount of money from the sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal for $ 137 million. Besides negotiating to recruit the duo of Man Utd, "sledgehammer" is said to have closed the deal for Edson Alvarez, who is expected to replace Rice. West Ham offered to pay 41 million USD with 2.5 million additional fees and was accepted by Ajax.
