AnhWolves agreed to sell Portuguese player Matheus Nunes to Man City for $65 million.

The two teams reached a verbal agreement on August 30, but are still preparing official procedures for Nunes to undergo a medical examination in Manchester. The above amount includes surcharges, it is expected that the 25-year-old midfielder will cost the same as another Man City rookie, wing striker Jeremy Doku.

This fee is lower than Wolves' offer, in exchange they will be able to borrow 22-year-old midfielder Tommy Doyle from Man City, with the right to buy outright for only six million USD. Doyle is valued at $ 19 million, even though he has only played one game for Man City in the English Premier League.

Nunes emerged with a Sporting shirt in Portugal, before becoming the most expensive contract in Wolverhampton history in the summer of 2022. He played only one season for Wolves, scoring once in 41 games before being targeted by Man City. In the match against Man Utd in round one, Nunes and Brazilian international Matheus Cunha caused many difficulties for the opponent.

Nunes is 1.84m tall, is a central midfielder, and is considered a comprehensive player. He could be Man City's fourth rookie in the summer of 2023 after Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol and Doku. The amount of money they spent on transfers will amount to 265 million USD, compared to 127 million USD in revenue from player sales.

Nunes can play in midfield with Rodri and Kovacic, when Kalvin Phillips is not trusted. Doku has a knack for playing on the wing and is expected to replace the position left by Riyad Mahrez.

Nunes is a member of Portugal attending the 2022 World Cup, just one year after debuting for the team. He played 11 international matches, scoring one goal against Turkey in the World Cup finals.
