Man City overwhelmingly nominated for Best Player of the Year award in England

The three Man City players on the PFA list are Erling Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne and John Stones. Arsenal contributed two people, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. The other is Harry Kane, who has just moved from Tottenham to Bayern.

This year, PFA celebrates the 50th anniversary of this award. The awards ceremony will be held on August 29 at the Lowry Theatre, Manchester, three months later than usual. Named the Best Player of the Year award, but in fact the award will honor the outstanding player of English football in the 2022-2023 season.

Haaland is considered to have the most chances of winning. The Norwegian striker caused a fever in his first season in the Premier League, scoring 36 goals and breaking the record for the most goals scored by a player in a season. Haaland was also voted by the Premier League organizers as the best player in the tournament, and the top scorer of the Champions League. To date, the 23-year-old player has 52 goals in 53 games playing for Man City in all competitions.

Haaland's teammate De Bruyne also had an impressive season with 16 assists and seven goals in the Premier League. The Belgian midfielder has twice won the PFA Player of the Year award, in 2020 and 2021.

Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard were key players in Arsenal's title race against Man City for most of the season before finishing second. Saka had 14 goals and 11 assists, while Odegaard had 15 goals and seven assists last season.

The PFA award is considered the most prestigious award for football players in England, because it is the result of votes from the representatives of their colleagues. Season 2021-2022, Mohamed Salah won this award.
