Man City meets Newcastle in the third round of the League Cup
After the series of late second round matches ended on the evening of August 30, London time, the Federation Cup organizing committee conducted a draw for the third round matches. In this round, the teams participating in the European Cup of English football have just started playing.
The draw results witnessed the internal matches of the Premier League. Among them, the most notable is the competition between Man City and Newcastle. The home team at Etihad Stadium has won the League Cup six times in the last 10 seasons and will equal the record of nine times winning this arena by Liverpool if they win the Cup this year.
However, Newcastle is not an easy opponent to bully. After being acquired by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, the Tyneside club has transformed strongly under the direction of coach Eddie Howe. Earlier this season, Man City defeated Newcastle 1-0 in the second round of the Premier League thanks to Julian Alvarez's only goal, so this will be an opportunity for "Screech" to take revenge, especially when they have home field advantage.
Another promising matchup is Chelsea vs Brighton. Mauricio Pochettino and his team just won against AFC Wimbledon to continue and have the most watchable squad in the Premier League after changing the squad. Meanwhile, Brighton represents English football in the Europa League this season and is considered a formidable team under coach Roberto De Zerbi. This match also witnessed the reunion with the old team of midfielder Moises Caicedo - the English football record contract brought by Chelsea from Brighton this summer.
Defending champion Man Utd will host another Premier League representative - Crystal Palace. Palace's solid, disciplined playing style will test the ability of the "Red Devils" attack to create breakthroughs. Through three rounds of the Premier League, Man Utd played unconvincingly. After a close 1-0 win over Wolves in the first round, they lost 0-2 to Tottenham and then won against Nottingham in the third round after losing by two goals.
Arsenal also promises to face many difficulties as a guest at Brentford, a team in high form. "The Bees" have not lost a match in the Premier League after one win and two draws, despite the absence of key striker Ivan Toney. Liverpool will host 2015-2016 Premier League champion Leicester, the team that dropped out of the Premier League last season. The team from the same city as Everton will face Aston Villa.
