ItalyCon of the legendary Paolo Maldini, Daniel scored to help Spezia beat Inter 2-1 in round 26 of Serie A.

Daniel opened the scoring in the 55th minute, nine minutes after coming on for Eldor Shomurodov. After goalkeeper Dragowski's kick, Nzola controlled to eliminate Francesco Acerbi and D'Ambrosio, then passed the ball to Daniel to cushion the ball into the far corner of the Inter goal.

This is the third goal in the career of the 21-year-old Italian defender. Daniel is the second son of Paolo Maldini, the legendary defender who won five European Cups/Champions League and seven Serie A with Milan from 1978-2009. Spezia borrowed Daniel from Milan in the summer of 2022.

Daniel's opening goal helped Spezia turn the game around against Inter. Before that, the team ranked second in Serie A continuously pressed the pitch. Inter could have opened the scoring in the 14th minute, if goalkeeper Dragowski had not stopped Lautaro Martinez's penalty.

Over 90 minutes, Spezia had only three shots and had 31% possession. Meanwhile, the away team scored 20 times. The stars Lautaro, Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Robin Gosens continuously missed in front of the home team's goal. Lautaro - the 2022 World Cup champion - put the ball into the net of Spezia in the 47th minute, but it was disallowed due to Lukaku's offside.

It wasn't until the 83rd minute that Inter equalized. The referee awarded the away team a penalty after Salva Ferrer fouled Denzel Dumfries. Lukaku scored when replacing Lautaro with a free kick.

Thinking he would leave with at least one point, Inter unexpectedly conceded a second goal in the 87th minute. Dumfries turned from a hero to a criminal with a knock down Viktor Kovalenko in the penalty area. Then, Nzola took a penalty kick into the top corner to seal a 2-1 victory for Spezia.

The win on the evening of March 10 was the first victory in Spezia's history against Inter. Spezia is ranked 17th in Serie A with 24 points after 26 rounds, six points ahead of the group at risk of relegation but playing more than one game.

Inter is still second. However, they are only two points ahead of Lazio and could lose their place. In the match on the evening of March 11, Lazio was a guest at Bologna field. Roma and Milan can also level the 50-point record with Inter, if they win Sassuolo and Salernitana.

Losing to Spezia is also a bad step for Inter before the second leg of the 1/8 Champions League round on March 14. In the first leg, Inter beat Porto 1-0 at home.
