Mafia threatens Messi
According to the Mirror (UK), two men on motorbikes approached Supermercado Unico supermarket in Rosario, Argentina at around 2am on March 1. One of them used a gun to shoot 14 rounds at the supermarket.
Before leaving, they left a hidden note with the message: "Messi. We are waiting for you. Javkin is a drug dealer. He will not protect you." The Javkin mentioned above is in fact the mayor of Rosario.
The supermarket is owned by the family of Antonella Roccuzzo, Messi's wife. A cousin of Roccuzzo's is in charge. The supermarket had to close after the shooting. "I talked to the Roccuzzos. They are very worried," Mr. Javkin said.
According to Mirror, Argentinian football fans may be behind the attack. A local TV station suggested that the criminal group may be trying to blackmail Messi's family. Mr Javkin criticized security forces for failing to stop organized crime in Rosario.
Messi and Roccuzzo were both born and raised in Rosario. They have known each other since childhood and started dating in 2008. They have three sons, including Thiago, Mateo and Ciro. Messi's family lived mainly in Barcelona, Spain before moving to Paris, France in 2021.
Messi's future is currently uncertain. The contract with PSG is only a few months and the two sides have not renewed. After an impressive performance at the beginning of the 2022-2023 season, Messi is expected to renew. However, the media still speculated that he could go to Saudi Arabia, or return to Rosario to play for his boyhood club, Newell's Old Boys.
Messi has won every title with the Argentine teams, including the 2005 U20 World Championship, 2008 Olympic gold medal, the 2021 Copa America, the 2022 Intercontinental Super Cup and the 2022 World Cup. World Cup 2022 is the first World Cup. of Argentina since the legendary Diego Maradona in 1986. On February 27, Messi won the Best Male Player award in 2022 The Best.
Messi and his teammates are about to return to Argentina. They will play two friendly matches against Panama on March 23 and Curacao on March 28. Messi will reach 100 goals for the team if he scores two more.
