League 2022: South Korean women are surprised at the Italian recruits.
Looking at the poor performance of past competitions, followers of Korean women's volleyball team have thought about the prospect that this national team will leave VNL 2022 empty-handed. However, Korean girls still showed a very comfortable mentality without scoring goals, which surprised them in today's game.
Although Italy only launched two teams today, South Korea still showed considerable embarrassment in helping the first step. The Kimchi team's difficult kick-off made their opponents struggle, but it failed to help them avoid a quick loss of 17-25 in the first set.

Things turned upside down in the second set, with the South Korean team performing well defensively, especially the defenders. Meanwhile, excellent performances from boss duo Park Jung-ya and Lee Han-bee helped them level the playing field against their more admired rivals. Italy didn't stay focused in the final minutes and South Korea's effort won 25-23.

Excited after a historic win over Italy, South Korea started the third set in a dynamic fashion, but they quickly regained their image as the bottom-ranked team in the second half of VNL 2022. South Korea played in pieces, made a lot of mistakes and couldn't resist the strength of Italy, especially Sylvia Nwakalol's powerful spike, and had to lose 25-15.

South Korea continued to show erratic play in the fourth set before losing all the advantages they had created in the first few minutes. In the last few minutes, Park Jung-ya and his teammates played with great determination and partially narrowed the gap. However, it was they who made the decisive mistake in the last two stages, providing Italy with a 25-19 victory.

The 3-1 victory (25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19) helped Italy stay in the top four, but it was the Korean fans who were happiest. Although their team has no chance to continue, after witnessing a series of losses by Asian teams, the victory over the No.4 team in the world is still of great significance to Korean volleyball fans. Hopefully today's positive results will encourage South Korea to do better against China, their final opponents in the 2022 VNL group stage.
