The 2023 World Super Blitz chess tournament is organized by the Chess platform from July 17 to July 21 in a dual elimination format, with 10 invited players and 6 qualified. Due to the high coefficient of super lightning on this platform, Tuan Minh is in the group of invited players, alongside players like Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Alireza Firouzja or Fabiano Caruana.
Each match lasts 30 minutes, except for the semi-finals, the winner's bracket final and the 45-minute total. Each game lasts for a maximum of two minutes, because each side has only one minute and no additional time is allowed after each move (1+0). After 30 minutes, the player must win by two points or more to be recognized as a winner. If the difference is less than two points, they will play six more games until a two-point difference is created. After those six games, whoever takes the lead wins. If the match is a draw, the winner of the first game moves on.
Also on the first day of the competition, Hikaru Nakamura overwhelmed Emin Ohanyan 22.5-1.5. Firouzja crushes Denis Lazavik 14.5-3.5. However, players like Caruana and Anish Giri failed and had to go down to the losing bracket.
