Kenyan female runner wins MetaSports Marathon twice in a row

Similar to the race at MetaSports Marathon Quy Nhon 2 months ago, Shelmith Nyawira Muriuki still maintains a fierce fighting style. She soon separated the female top as soon as she left the starting line, running on par with the male elite runner in Vietnam. Runner Kenya completed the race after 2 hours 52 minutes 42 seconds, and was the only female athlete to achieve sub3 at the tournament. Nearly 9 minutes ahead of runner-up Tomomi Nakajama (Japan). However, this achievement is still inferior to the result in Quy Nhon 2 months ago (2 hours 47 minutes 41 seconds).

Before coming to Nha Trang, the Kenyan female athlete set a goal to complete the tournament in 2 hours 30 to 2 hours 35 minutes, but she could not conquer Luong Son pass. "The race was too difficult. The high and long slopes made me quickly lose strength. With this terrain, completing the race and winning the championship was too happy," Shelmith said.

For the second time attending a tournament in the MetaSports Marathon system, Shelmith Nyawira Muriuki assessed that the race in Vietnam is not easy. In addition to the terrain factor, hot and humid weather makes any athlete feel uncomfortable. But in return, the female athlete appreciates the organization and hospitality of the host runner.

Throughout the race Shelmith is supported by BTC. Host athletes greet and cheer. "I thank the organizers for sending an invitation to the tournament. Thank you to the volunteers who are very enthusiastic in cheering and providing water. There is nothing to criticize in this tournament," she said. Shelmith Nyawira Muriuki promises to return to Vietnam and the next MetaSports Marathon, expected to be Hanoi or Hai Phong.

Shelmith Nyawira Muriuki was born in 1984, is an athlete who regularly competes in international marathons. Shelmith's first tournament in Vietnam was the MetaSports Marathon Sparkling Quy Nhon which took place in June this year. Here, Shelmith put all her strength into running with the top male athletes in Vietnam to the finish line. She said, doing this to motivate and inspire Vietnamese female runners.

At MetaSports Marathon Marvelous Nha Trang 2023, the first place and second place in the 42km distance, the men's and women's content belonged to international athletes. In the men's event, Japanese athlete Hiroki Nakajima made a surprise when he became the champion. He finished after 2 hours 33 minutes 54 seconds. While Kenyan athlete Victor Kipkemei Chepkwony - who wanted to break the tournament record to finish second after 2 hours 41 minutes. Trinh Quoc Luong is in third place.

In addition to two champions and two runners-up in the full marathon, VM Nha Trang has more than 300 foreign runners participating in the race at four distances. Since the beginning of the year, most of the MetaSports Marathon tournaments have had high-performance international runners participate and win prizes. This contributes to promoting professional quality, which is a motivation for domestic runners to make efforts and improve achievements.

MetaSports Marathon Marvelous Nha Trang 2023 also found the champion of the remaining distances. All are familiar names in the Vietnamese running village such as Do Quoc Luat, Nguyen Phuong Trinh, Dao Minh Chi, Dao Minh Thien.
