Indonesian goalkeeper apologizes for missing penalty kick

Ernando Ari Sutaryadi admitted that he did not complete the task when he missed the decisive penalty that caused Indonesia to lose to Vietnam in the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 final on the evening of August 26.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper accepts to listen to criticism and suggestions, taking it as a lesson to continue striving. He also thanked his teammates, coaching staff and team staff for their efforts to get a silver medal at the 2023 AFF U23 Championship.

Coach Shin Tae-yong defended Ernando, as well as his decision to place the goalkeeper on the sixth penalty. "I chose him because Ernando just played confidently and had an extraordinary performance in 120 minutes. He also kicked 11m very well in practice," said the Korean leader.
