Huynh Nhu will continue to play for Portuguese club Lank in the 2023-2024 season, after the two sides agreed to activate the one-year contract extension clause.

"Huynh Nhu has signed a new contract, valid for one year," Huynh Nhu's representative Roger Linh Mai told MetaSports this afternoon, August 31. "In fact, this is a clause in the old contract. Lank was satisfied with Huynh Nhu's performance, so she activated this clause. Since Huynh Nhu joined the national team, the club sent her a contract to sign. , but now the two sides have finalized the terms."

Huynh Nhu was born in 1991, played for the first team of Ho Chi Minh City when he was 17 years old, 7 times with the national women's championship team. She is currently the captain of the Vietnamese women's team, has won four SEA Games gold medals and has just attended the 2023 World Cup with the team.

Huynh Nhu is the first Vietnamese female player to go to Europe to play football, when she signed a contract with Lank FC in August 2022. Last season, she scored seven goals in the Portuguese league and cup. Huynh Nhu was also given conditions by the club to return to SEA Games 32 and win a gold medal, even though this tournament is not part of the FIFA system and the club has no responsibility to release people.

Representative Roger Linh Mai said that Huynh Nhu, in addition to having good expertise, is also sociable, so he quickly adapts to his teammates. He hopes that the Huynh Nhu deal will help open the way for other Vietnamese female players to go abroad to play.

"Actually, women's football transfers don't generate much money. But it gives players the opportunity to play in a better environment, thereby contributing to the development of Vietnamese women's football. I still are looking for ways to continue bringing some other female players to Europe, but this needs support from the players' host clubs in Vietnam," shared Roger Linh Mai.
